Karen Baker
Prof. dr. Karen Baker has been on the Dental College faculty at the University of Iowa for 38 years and occupies a unique role in dental practice and education.She is a clinical pharmacist with a master’s degree in clinical pharmacology and therapeutics and is focused on patient-specific dental drug therapy.
She has given well over 1000 invited programs nationally and internationally and holds memberships in many dental and clinical pharmacology and therapeutics organizations.
Her dental education-based pharmacy and drug therapy consultation center is the only one in the United States.
She has authored many articles and abstracts and lectures extensively in pre-doctoral and graduate courses at the University of Iowa.

Purnima Kumar
"She is a dental icon and so gracious and giving of her time. A real star in dental research and education"Prof. dr. Purnima Kumar received her dental degree from Annamalai University in India, and her master’s degree in periodontology and Ph.D. in molecular microbiology from Ohio State.
Professor of Periodontology at The Ohio State University, dr. Purnima Kumar is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology and a Fellow of The Hedwig van Ameringen Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine (ELAM) program.
In addition to her clinical practice, dr. Kumar maintains an active research program in human microbial ecology that is funded through the NIH and oral healthcare corporate partners, and she has authored over 100 papers and book chapters.
Dr. Kumar presently serves as the Chair of the Continuing Education Oversight Committee for the American Academy of Periodontology, is a member of the Taskforce for Women in Periodontics, and of the Council of Scientific Affairs of the American Dental Association, where she is their official spokesperson on e-cigarettes and vaping.
Dr. Kumar has also served on various committees for the International Association for Dental Research and is the incoming Vice-President of the Periodontal Research Group.

Steven Gold
Prof. dr. Steven Gold has over 28 years’ experience as a general dentist. After 16 years of full-time private practice in Southern California, he transitioned to academics and currently serves as assistant professor and Coordinator of Digital Dentistry at Western University of Health Sciences, College of Dental Medicine in Pomona, California.His academic career has involved teaching restorative dentistry in the clinical and pre-clinical settings and conducting research in the areas of CAD/CAM and all-ceramic restorations.
His original research in these areas has been published in peer-reviewed journals, and he has spoken both nationally and internationally on the topic of CAD/CAM dentistry.
Dr. Gold received his dental training from the University of Southern California School of Dentistry, and holds fellowships in the American College of Dentists, the International College of Dentists, and the Pierre Fauchard Academy.
He is also a member of OKU (Omicron Kappa Upsilon is the national dental honor society).
